Union Electric, is a classic Melbourne bar. It is small, secluded, and harbouring a truly electric vibe and so the name is completely appropriate! Really felt at home here with prompt friendly service, beautiful quality drinks and great nibbles straight from their neighbouring restaurant. The decor is classy but comfortable and the music is spot on. The bar food is provided by their neighbours, so will be a selection of dumplings and fried goodies which is great for grazing. This quirky bar makes a really cool date venue too! Will be back!
I was wandering through an alleyway in Melbourne and suddenly came across a bar that I had not seem before (which is quite a common experience in Melbourne). Not having the time to check it out, I made a mental note and came back the first chance I could. I managed to do that within the next week. The first thing that happened when I stepped in through the door was that I was greeted by one of the friendliest staff members of any place I had ever been to (okay, I am exaggerating, but that is what it felt like). Basically it is more of a cocktail bar but they do have beers available, and a menu to go with it. Also, despite it being open they have a strict non-smoking policy, meaning that you cannot smoke anywhere on the premises. When I was there they were also preparing for a beach party (the outdoor area is covered in sand, which also adds to the pretty cool atmosphere).
