Myself and three of my friends shared a room for 3 nights at New Years. (Yes we’re still currently here). The reason we booked vibe was obviously the location and the fact it had a pool- only to find out that the pool is currently being upgraded and will be closed over New Years! Obviously we weren’t contacted (we booked in June) and honestly it would have changed our booking preferences if we’d known about the pool. So they redirected us to a ‘sister hotel’ a 10 minute walk from here and let’s just say that their pool left a lot to be desired.. Finally, woke up this morning to find that the shower diverter isn’t working. Sigh. Anyway point being, even though there’s hundreds of minor issues with the room (including power points coming away from the wall and mouldy sinks), they are issues non the less and after talking with staff about the pool yesterday, I fear they wouldn’t care less about any of these other problems.. so here I am.
Stayed a night at the vibe while passing thru Sydney. The rooms are fine, nothing flash and pretty basic but comfortable. The location was good too. However the staff all look and act as if they have been sucking on lemons and like they have a million better places to be. Very unfriendly and not easy to get information out of in regards to questions as simple as "where is breakfast served and when?". the cafe/restaurant staff didnt know how to make a cocktail despite the various cocktail offerings written on the walls. I shouldn't tarnish all staff with the same brush however as we did come across one friendly guy who gave us some tips on things we could do in the city. We were never once rude or unfriendly towards any of the staff but would liked to have been treated as tho we were paying customers at their workplace because, well, we were.
Some friends visited from the UK and I put them up in the Vibe Hotel...and everyone was happy with the outcome. Good location, nice dcor, friendly staff, and a reasonable price. I did find however that it was cheaper to book online than directly with them, as they can't offer the same price. Note however that the online availability is limited.
