I don't ever review restaurants I dine in but felt that Vicolo deserved a mention. This little hidden gem tucked away in young street Moonee ponds serves up delicious traditional Italian food specializing in risotto where 20 make an appearance on the menu ... All delicious tasty hand cooked to perfection. I have tried several they were all full of flavour. We had several tapas size entrees ... Arancini, melenzane, whitiebait and the most delicious meatballs I have ever tasted... Do yourself a favour ... Try it it's beautiful you won't be disappointed...
The risotto was tasteless and overpriced. In fact they were charging Lygon Street prices for hospital cafeteria quality food. So disappointed.
This was very disappointing to read... The risottos at vicolo have had nothing but rave reviews for 9 years... If there was something so bad with a meal you should always feel that you can tell the friendly staff at vicolo and they will fix it... With pleasure... Vicolo has been operating for 9 years and has never been compared to lygon street...it has always prided itself in its food and service...give us a go try for urself....
The comment responding to my low scoring comment by Fifthave is clearly written on behalf of the restaurant. I understand it is difficult for businesses to control their image these days and their intention to respond. I don't give reviews poor reviews lightly but it was honest and what I believed fair criticism of my experience. We did speak to the wait staff about the lack of flavour in both our meals and her response was that there they always had positive feedback. They didn't treat our case individually nor validate our feedback. They made us feel silly for saying so, when it could have been appreciated at the very least. I feel like the comment they posted is do dis our comment and invalidate our experience. Why is feedback considered confronting in innately negative in Australian culture?
fantastic place to go. very cheap, great atmosphere, fantastic staff and not to mention the great food. i have a few functions here ( our wedding reception and both kids christening ) very family and kid friendly which is fantastic when you have children who wont sit still. keep up the great work VICOLO!
