Viet Rose
Viet Rose in the retro mecca of Brunswick Street is a casual, inexpensive spot for very tasty classic Vietnamese cuisine.
The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff friendly and customers stream through the door for the quality food and modest prices.
Vietnamese cuisine is famous for recipes that use a lot of vegetables, herbs and spices like lemon grass, lime and kaffir lime. All dishes are served with a tangy dipping sauce made chiefly from fish sauce, chillies and lime or lemon juice. Choose from bargains under $10 starters such as a large bowl of steaming pho noodles and veggies swimming in delicious broth and topped with beef, a plate of delicate Vietnamese spring rolls (fried or fresh) or the rice paper rolls. Or go for one of the many tasty beef, pork, or fish entrees. Crispy beef with chilli, and chicken lemongrass are popular main dishes along with a wide range of stir fries and noodle dishes. The desserts are interesting - be adventurous and try one of the unusual combinations such as jack fruit and cooked red beans.

Not my first preference for Vietnamese food with Richmond just around the corner, but if you're not keen on traveling then this place does the job just fine. Although Laksa isn't really a Viet dish, it's a very popular item on the menu and definitely a must try. The service is very fast so great for lunch or a quick dinner. Staff are always friendly and patient.
