Vietnam Village
The cottage decor is basic but has a charming character and atmosphere; the service is swift and the clientele tends to be cheerful - it's all pretty relaxed with the casual comfort of many a suburban Asian eatery. The prawns with coconut milk and lemongrass are a sweet plate full of prawns in a thick sauce topped with crushed nuts. The roast duck similarly is a big serve of moist duck pieces, good for big appetites. Lots of round tables - this is a place to share food, conversation and good times, without breaking the bank.

If you're venturing into Vietnamese cuisine for the first time then this will be a safe meal for you however, if you've had the real thing it might be a bit disapppointing. Having said that, it wasn't a bad meal. The quail was juicy. The cold rolls were on the small side but had enough herbs in them to get them over the line. The rice hot pot was tasty and full of good stuff (although lacking that crunchy bottom that everyone fights over). The salt and pepper tofu, whilst needing a bit more salt and pepper, was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle - just as it should be. The beef salad was the highlight - full of crunchy textures and tender strips of beef.
The service was friendly and efficient and the kitchen is fast - we didn't wait long for our meals at all and they were piping ...read more
Ok, so the location's dodgy, the parking's dodgy, the decor's dodgy, even first impression of the menu is dodgy... But look beyond all this superficial guff and be truly impressed. I can't speak for the chinese half of the menu, but the vietnamese, oh boy! In particular, the salads and rice hot pot are amazing!! With such brilliant food, great prices and excellent service, the Vietnam Palace is a true winner.
Who said an excellent dining experience had to be pricy? Vietnam Village offers a taste of asia in a very clean and bright home environment. It feels like you are dining in the comfort of your own home, but with one exception, you have access to some of the most delicious vietnamese meals! The price is very affordable and if you eat in, be warned, their serving size is more than you expect! So you better be hungry! My reccomendations are the satay chicken, Tom Yum soup, Crispy Garlic and pepper chicken and the crispy noodles. Take the family on a culinary experience through Vietnam but make sure to book, as Fridays and Saturday nights are always busy!
