Village Coffee Shop & Restaurant

Old school coffee shop mainly filled with the Camden oldies. They were offering some very cheap $10 lunches when we were there. There was an old guy making coffees and they were real good.

Never have I been so appalled at the lack of hygiene and professional customer service in a food establishment before. We should have known as soon as we walked in on Friday that we were in for a bad experience; no one else was eating, we were completely ignored by staff, the tables were dirty and unwiped and the menus were sticky. When we were served we still weren’t greeted, he just stood there until we told him what we wanted to order. The pineapple juice we ordered arrived and came out green and when we tried it it was horribly bitter and tasted like someone had just put limes in a blender. When we told him it didn’t taste like pineapple he said replied with a very blunt “well I just cut up a new pineapple so I don’t see how it could be a lime.” I told him to try it and see but it definitely didn’t taste like pineapple juice. my "BLT" was a toasted sandwich with cheese, i did not ask for cheese. my coffee was luke-warm, very milky and only had 1 shot of coffee. my girlfriends chicken was dry, the salad was far from fresh. my cousins fruit smoothie was mostly crushed ice, her schnitzel & chips were very oily. my friends chicken burger was gross; the bun was over-toasted, the chicken was over done, the salad was old. her smoothie was very milky, she did not finish it.

service was very poor, the staff was very abrupt and impolite. not once were we asked how our meals were or if we would like more drinks (we didn't.) the food very poorly presented. the cutlery was all dirty and it was difficult to find clean utensils.

would not recommend to anyone.

Just absolutely horrible, the meals are very highly priced but poor quality. I have had two bad experiences with this Cafe and would not recommend it to others. Very disappointed.

I was there today with my partner to get some lunch and a "fresh fruit smoothie." It honestly was the worst meal I have ever had the chicken in the "chicken burger with salad and chips" was completely dry and it did not come with a salad as stated in the menu. The "ham and tasty cheese" open grilled sandwich my girlfriend ordered, not only looked horrible but the ham was full of fat, the toast was burnt and the cheese was definitely not tasty. But that's not all, the "FRESH fruit smoothie" was extremely NOT fresh. The milk was warm (later on to realise the milk was sitting on the counter and not the fridge). I think the staff making it got the wrong idea cause the cup was cold and the fruit smoothie was warm, there was also evident banana flavouring within the cup suggesting it wasn't exactly made from fresh fruit.
