Wappan Station
There is a misinformed, negative and naive image amongst many people about rural life in Australia. Come and learn and experience Wappan for yourself and witness this truly unique rural setting. Wappan is one of Victorias largest sheep/cattle stations(16 000 merino sheep, 350 cattle) and is one of Australias most scenic situated in the heart of the High Country, where the "Man from Snowy River" was filmed. Wappan is only two hours from Melbourne, right on the shores of Lake Eildon with views of Australias premier ski resort, Mt Buller. At high water level Lake Eildon is one of Australias largest freshwater lakes stretching almost 500km, much of it is only accessible by boat. The accommodation consists of three premises. All premises have bbq and are self-contained. Wappan Cottage has five bedrooms(two queens, two twins, 1 bunkbed, 1 double sofa bed). It has two living areas. One kitchen living with a woodheater, the other has an open-fire. It has two bathrooms and three showers. The place is heated with a laundry. We supply linen just bring your towels. Royaltown Cottage has two bedrooms(one double, twin share, 1 double sofa-bed). It is heated with an open fire. Fully equipped kitchen. The shearers quarters are more basic. Sleeping 20. There is one big kitchen living area with an open fire. There are eight bedrooms. Two with doubles, four twin-share and two twin-share bunks. The bathrooms are outside and have been newly renovated with male and female with two toilets and showers in each. You have to bring sheets and towels.
