Waters Edge

I dined at Water's Edge last night with two friends from interstate and left feeling very proud that we have such a restaurant in Canberra. At first I thought the menu and the presentation of the food was a bit pretentious, but having sampled the first course I could see that both were justified and added to the experience. All four courses were superb: unusual flavours and combinations of food that I would never have imagined, but all worked. You need to concentrate on what you are eating. The subtleties and flavours are not to be passed over lightly. The waiting staff were low key - efficient, pleasant, knowledgeable and unobtrusive but alert. Altogether a very, very pleasant experience and one I look forward to repeating. Thank you Waters Edge.

We were visiting Canberra for the Masters Exhibition at the national gallery over the Christmas break and our hotel recommended Waters Edge as one of Canberra's best restaurants. Its definately in a great location, right on the waters edge facing North across the lake, next to the Portrait Gallery. Situated right beside the lake, there's very few places in Canberra that offer a view like this. The food and service is great.
