Westfield Southland

Southland is very much Chadstone's poor cousin from the country and now that you only get limited parking, it seems customers have deserted the centre in droves. It is too big to get around to where you need to be in two hours. The shops are okay but the noise is a real hassle that just makes you want to get out faster.

Notmy very favourite westfields, but it still serves it purpose.
Plus, it has Big W! The inner is a bit gloomy, unlike doncaster westfield wgich gives a far more lively feeling.
The covered area is huge though. But it like crossing the highway to go from myers to david jones!

So after years of shopping at Southland, today was my last visit thanks to some genius at Westfield who has decided 2 hours is sufficient time on a busy Saturday for people to navigate through hundreds of people, support small local businesses as well as big corporates by spending hundreds of $$, queue at registers to pay, go to the bank, get new glasses fitted at the optometrist and (in my case) help a lost child be reunited with his relatives.



After doing my shopping on both sides of this huge place I got back to my car with aching feet only to find not only was I exhausted but I had earned a parking ticket... in a private car park!! Never again Westfield.! 2 hours is manifestly inadequate in a centre the size of Southland!

I have visited a number of shopping centres more well planned than this one in my time, and parking can be extremely difficult some days, but, Southland is a wonderful place to visit and shop. I am doing well to have such a great shopping centre as my local complex. We love the cinemas and frequent them much more than we probably should. Easy to grab a coffee afterwards with so much to choose from right there at the cinema doors. And lifts to the carpark so closeby too. Southland is definitely a pleasure, and a great way to fill a rainy day.

Is our local shopping centre and fantastic, has everything we need, from movies, to clothes shops to supermarkets. We are there several times a week. We also visit the special play centre on the 3rd floor, although it would be good to have a few of these throughout the centre.
