Westmeadows Tavern
The aptly named Westmeadows Tavern is a historic establishment located in Westmeadows. The public bar has local beers on tap, along with wine and spirits. You can also buy takeaway from the bottle shop. If you fancy a game of pool or darts, both are catered for at this pub. Competitions are also run if you fancy yourself a professional. Meanwhile, the decor in both the bar area and bistro evokes the ambience of a traditional corner pub with the patterned carpet, wood panelled walls and aged photographs of the pub from yesteryear.

The Westmeadows Tavern has been a favourite dining spot for a while. Went there last Thursday, the service has dropped dramatically. My husband and I ordered Oysters Kilpatrick and lucky me, I nearly ate the one that was off! A good sense of smell saved me from a very bad night. My main course was Chicken Parmagiana, figure you can't muck that one up. I was wrong, try putting a teaspoon of Napoli sauce on the schnitzel and cover it up with cheese and ham and that's it. No Napoli sauce on top of the schnitzel. We were supposed to have our family Christmas there but could not subject my family to the offerings of this bistro. They need to hire a new cook and some efficient, friendly staff.
Gone downhill. Was quite good 4 years ago. Dining experience now very average. Staff try hard but without a decent food not much that can be done. Quality of food is poor. Trying to make a buck without quality and it shows. All about the payment and nothing about the experience ( which has customers coming back). Its a pity as the Westy Tavern does have a good atmosphere and could be something special.
