I like to go here and have a read whenever I have some spare time on my lunch breaks. They stock most of the major magazines, although there are certain ones that I wished they’d stocked. I like that they don’t kick you out if you’re just standing there reading and don’t end up purchasing anything. And when you do make a purchase, the staff are kind enough to tell you that there will be a credit card surcharge unlike other places who just add that surcharge on without telling you.

On Dec 19th I purchased magazine $9.99, chewing gum $2 and 2 packs butter menthol around $3.30 each. The assistant took $50 and returned me a twenty and some change. I queried her and said that it was too expensive for those items. She passed me the receipt which said change $31.75. I explained that there was a mistake and I asked for a refund. I looked at receipt and then explained to the assistant that she had made a mistake by giving me $10 short in change. She became annoyed and quite aggressively said, "I gave it to you.' She had not. I waited awhile but the supervisor did not return and I had a train to catch. I knew exactly how much I had in my purse and as I left I said, "At the end of the day when you reconcile your till and you are $10 over you will know you did ...read more

Suited for travellers coming to and from southern cross station needing magazines or something to read for their ride to the airport, probably not for people who work around docklands. WH Smith is in a pretty good location. Selling drinks and snacks in the one pit stop generally makes life easier for the shopper. I was in here to grab some mints and just a small outlet there is so much to offer. But knowing what you want makes it really quick for yourself and the staff. There was at least 2 other customers in here. One enjoying the magazine stand and the other just browsing while wheeling their suitcase around. So WH Smith definitely attracts the right type of crowd for the sole purpose of being a news agency.
