Back in the days Wing La was the only known cake store that made the best cream and vanilla sponge fillings. Every party or event i went to always had a cake ordered from Wing La, from weddings to birthdays to anniversaries for many occasions. Now its hard to compare Wing La to the more modern designs of cakes. Bit for a traditional cake or a blast from the past, Wing La will very much suit the occasion. Before modern cake styles started to take over, i always had my birthday cake ordered here. I always had the fruit top cakes and the peanut covering the sides. They were the best. Occasionally they do durian sponge which my mum orders for other occasions, a lot of people like it but i couldnt stand the smell. Great to see Wing La still standing today to make the traditional cakes.
I ordered a medium sized fruit cake from them for a friend's birthday without much expectation. To my surprise, the quality and taste of the cake was excellent. They used fresh fruit and fresh cream and was not too sweet compared to other bakeries where a lot of their cakes are too sweet. I will definitely come back to order a birthday cake for myself this year.
