Xanthi Bar and Restaurant
Located in one of Sydney's favourite shopping centres, its eccentric interior and exquisitely name caught my attention during my Saturday shopping adventure. Xanthi has two seating areas: inside the restaurant for calm-warming design atmosphere, and busy shopping nuance with eccentric tables.
I had lamb skaras for the main course. It is Peramas famous slow braised lamb shoulder marinated in capsicum, garlic and olive oil, barbecued and served with baked lemon oregano potatoes and steamed string beans.
I found the food tasted weird at first. For some reasons the flavour didn't seem to mix and did not taste as good as it looked. But after a while it started to grow on me!
The staffs are very attentive and very polite. Overall, this place is worth trying!
Such a beautiful restaurant to enjoy a corporate lunch, a get together with your friends or a romantic dinner for 2. The decor is exquisite and I particularly love the sheer elegance of the draped curtains floating from the roof and the blue an white glass lanterns hanging above the tables. Having recently dined her for a work function it was easier for us as a larger group to order the $40 Express Banquet Lunch and it definitely did not disappoint. Included with the banquet was greek salad, pita bread, dips, bbq haloumi and dolmades to share and for the main course - Lamb Skaras which was cooked to perfection. You also get a glass of wine, beer or soft drink included which is great value for a City lunch. The service was fantastic and very attentive and the price reasonable for the selection of food. Whilst dining I noticed that Xanthi hosts a greek goddess with a modern Greek twist High Tea the last Sunday of every month with a delightful menu of prawns ...read more
The express lunch is great value as it's actually really big. The service is friendly and helpful although we found it a bit slow, particularly getting the bill ... so not so express like. But a very nice room and good atmosphere for a weekday lunch. The slow roast lamb is delicious!
We decided on the the $30 per head option, really good if you're not to sure what you want. I enjoyed every dish, but the fav's were the pan fried Haloumi cheese with the sweetest figs, and the other was the lamb! If you haven't tried the Greek cuisine you must try this place.
Agree, the halloumi and fig combo was delicious. Also really great value for $30 per head.
