Ying Thai 2
The first thing you notice about Ying Thai 2 in Lygon Street Carlton is its funky, vivid décor which sets it apart for traditional thai eateries. However it is the generous servings of spicy stir-fries, noodles and sweet and sour soups which keep locals coming back.

Food ok- but I didn't like the service.
Firstly, cups were dirty. The staff member took them but never brought any glasses back. We had to remind him about water glasses.
Had to wait 40+ mins for the mains to come. We had asked entree to come slightly before the mains - but then had to ask staff 3 separate times to get our main.
Once the main did come- they gave us the rice before the stir fry. Had to wait another 10 mins for stir fry. I'm not sure what I could've done with just the rice.
Staff was unapologetic.
Not a good experience at all.
Will not return.
Still good every time i come here. Probably one of the best Thai restaurants i know that is authentic and close to what you would get in Thailand. Not modified to cater for the western style. Really hot spices. Always busy which tells me that every one that comes here are real Thai food lovers as Ying Thai has been around for so long. Dishes we ordered were spicy and hot but it was all worth it. Good to dine and share with a few friends as eating on you own will be too much to handle. Will always come back here for great Thai food.
Havent had Thai in a long time and we all know Ying Thai and Ying Thai 2 are the must be places for quick, tasty, authentic, and cheap thai food. After not having thai for some time ordering all my favourite dishes i must say this time round, Ying Thai 2 tastes a lot better compared to my last experience. The spicy chilli and the flavours of the curry, fried rice and papaya salad were so addictive. I guess after taking the first bite into each plate the chilli kicks in immediately and to keep it going is the only way because if you stop the hotness of the chilli will rush through. The papaya salad was fresh and even out when rating with the fried rice so it wasn't too hot but the curry, full of flavours and can really taste the coconut milk gave it a real good kick. Very much enjoyed this dining experience and will be back anytime.
