The worst dining experience I have had in a long time. Yes of course, venues can have an off night, but when you are literally fighting the flies off your meal (because both doors to the venue are left open [including on the cold night we were there earlier this week], the meals you and your dining companions ordered are not what was requested (i.e. steak that was so dry it was inedible, chips that were overcooked, and a handful of mesculin lettuce, 2 chunky pieces of tomato [about an eighth] and 1 piece of spanish onion which may have been dressed at some point but not by the time it came to the table all at $29.90 per meal was seriously bad. You don't mind paying for good food but this was not what was provided. We have dined at the York Hotel three times now. The quality of the meals has been inconsistent unfortunately. However we have had some good meals there. On our last visit we were disappointed with the noise and swearing from the bar behind. The prices for meals are not cheap thus you would not expect to have rowdy noise disturbing the ambiance of the restaurant. Drinks were ordered and delivered with the wait staff bring them holding the rims of the glasses which should be a big no-no in any restaurant. One glass had a UFO in the bottom and drinks we had ordered previously (just a month or two earlier) were no longer stocked. This latest experience has made us rethink returning although we supply this review to explain why we will not return and hopefully it will help the management to tighten up the service.
