Yulli's
Yulli's is a friendly and easy going restaurant and bar located in Surry Hills. The food is delicious and there is a great selection. Experience the delight of the Massaman curry pie or the salt and pepper tofu.
The lighting is warm and welcoming, the tables resemble wine crates, there is a mix of chairs and stools and the menu is on a chalkboard behind the bar. All in all Yulli's is a delightful, charming place that serves scrumptious food.
In Surry Hills, this is a vegan and vegetarian joint with plenty of choices. It took a while to get served but once we ordered the food came out fast. Interesting options, like vegetarian money bags and pizza. We got the veggie chips that came with aioli, salt and chilli sauce to dip in. Fresh pumpkin, taro and lotus root chips with tempura batter. We also tried the ginger and leek dumplings as pumpkin and cauliflower. The food was all very nice and pricing is reasonable. They have a huge range of beers including vegan beer and wine.
Disappointing. Went here last Friday night. I've been vego for years now so wanted to be Yulli's biggest fan. However, I found it to be very overpriced for the serving sizes (4 tiny dumplings for $13.50?!), a lot of the food was cold (surely not meant to be like this - both the dumplings and pancakes were), and a bit bland, did not leave satisfied, we were all still hungry. Presentation was nice. The actual setting is great, cool spot in Surry right opposite some great bars. I don't know if I'd come back. This definitely isn't somewhere to take a non-vegetarian!
A nice Vegetarian bar/restaurant in Surry Hills. Impressive wine and craft beer list and comfortable atmosphere. Food is a bit hit and miss - there are some delicious and creative dishes such as the coconut and edamame money bags and the black bean rice noodles, but portions are a bit small for the hefty prices and other dishes like the san choy bow were a bit bland. It still i's a solid option for a wide range of vego food for both vegos and not though, and points to it for doing something a bit different in the area.
