Not a fan of this Zambreros.
The restaurant always seems empty, so there is just 1 staff inside (usually).
So it takes them ages to go through your order as they have to do everything themselves.
Food is ok.
I like the double taco- where there is a crunchy taco inside a soft taco. The mix was a great combination!
Zambrero might not be as widely known in Sydney as their competitions due to its limited stores, but what they lack in popularity they make up for it with good food and service.
Their shop at Oxford Street is quite spacious, and upon entering the atmosphere is more relaxed and cafe-like rather than fast food. The shop is not filled with floor space instead of seats.
Their main food offering is burritos, but the white rice is distinctly flavoured and they also have black rice option. They also do a subway-style ordering that lets you choose the meat and the ingredients and sauce right from the display.
I tried out their chicken burrito bowl with basilo sauce. The dish was very fresh and it tasted really good too, certainly introducing a new palate to my taste buds. The price is also comparable to of GYG or Mad Mex.
The server was genuinely friendly and attentive, and definitely feels very local instead of franchise.
Tried this place for the first time during peak hour on a weekday. There wasn't many people here, service was quick and somewhat friendly. I tried the superfood/black rice burrito bowl. My stomach is normally sensitive to fast foods but this meal was very satisfying. The meat and chicken in particular were delicious. The interior is a bit sparse so it isn't much of a hang out.
Only a choice if the other restaurant is closed or too busy, as the quality of burito at Zambrero is no where near as good as theirs. The service is ok, but I've had a couple of stomach pains the next day.
One good thing to mention re this place is the opening times are usually until late on weekends.
