Zebu Bar Grill

Zebu is the type of restaurant Port Macquarie has been craving! It has a really great, hip and sophisticated atmosphere, complete with ambient firelight and textural finishes. The food is always really intersting here. It's not a huge menu and it could be hard to understand for the non-foodies but when you ask the staff to explain a dish they are very knowledgable and happy to accomodate your cooked-to style. We used to frequent the Rydges restaurant that was here previously and are thrilled that the same amazing service has remained.

My husband and I attended for a meal on New Year's Eve and were very disappointed. There was insufficient staff and it took more than 1.5 hours to get our main meal. The staff were friendly but frazzled! Our entree was a salad with no dressing or seasoning more than an hour later we got our main meal which was the scotch fillet steak on a sizzling plate. The plate was cold and could easily be touched. The steak was also cold and tough - the potatoes were lovely! I asked for my steak to be well done and it was still pink - although they had plenty of time to cook it!. There was a jus in a container on the "sizzling" plate which had no taste and was like watered down soya sauce! Our desert was a cheese platter to share. The crackers on the plate were completely stale and soft! I would not recommend this restaurant and would never return. I would give it one star -for the potatoes & bread!
