Not that i have much opportunity to be down at this side of town and being in the main strips of Glen Waverley, we stumbled across Zest 89. A modern restaurant which looked fairly busy on a Saturday night. We didn't have reservations so we waited a little before we were seated. Busy atmosphere but again it was located in a prime spot in Glen Waverley not too far from the cinemas. The highlights for me was the desserts, nicely displayed and well presented. Small in size but just enough after a fairly decent main. My main i had steak with roasted vegetables. I actually enjoyed the roasted vegetables more than the steak itself. Steak was slightly chewy but the roast was full of herby flavours. The cheesecake my husband gobbled down within 3 spoons. Overall average dining experience.
while having a fantastic double shot affogato $5.50 I saw some meals on nearby tables which looked good. lamb salad lunch looked really nice (lamb looked tender and marinated), smashed avacado breakfast was pilled high, prawns salad looked very tempting. the smoothies only come in berry and $8 is a bit steep for one.
the service here is very frustrating at times, I sat here as an experiment outside on a very quiet weekday to see how long it was till someone come out and approached me to take my order. I waited over 25 mins while staff ignored me, clearing a table around me, walking past several times and served other diners, till I eventually walked in and asked for a menu myself. there were only 2-3 other tables with diners this particular lunchtime. the calamari salad I eventually got was nice though - moist and enough for a meal $20
The best coffee (so far) in Glen Waverley. Great coffee, including house blend and single origin options. Friendly hipster staff seem to have got lost on their way to Brunswick. All they're missing is the Synesso coffee machine, but they're doing pretty well with what they've got. Highly recommended.
