TWO very important questions you should ask your installer before you ask for a quote; 1) Do you pressure test your connections to 1 1/2 times the operating pressure of the sysem? - the only sure way to know if the flare and weld connections are completely sealed is by carrying out a pressure test of the newly installed pipework. A sealed system will ensure your new ac will not lose its gas charge via a dodgy connection. 2) Do you ensure that the system holds a vacuum of atleast 300 microns? - After your system as been pressure tested it now requires all the air/nitrogen be sucked out of the pipework, we are also removing moisture and some other contaminants in this process. By achieving a measurement of 300 microns we know that your system has minimum contaminants/air/moisture. If this is not carried out all the residual contaminants will lead to acid build up which then leads to catastrophic failure of internal parts. This acid can take upto 5-7 years to have any impact on your compressor by which time your warranty will have expired resulting in a costly repair.
