My name is Katherine McDonald and I am a registered nutritionist in the Paddington area. I have been practicing in the health industry as intensive care nurse for over 17 years. Since having children, I decided my real interest was in nutrition and helping individuals achieve optimum wellness through diet and lifestyle.
For whatever reason, we are becoming more time poor and we are eating more take-away, frozen or pre-prepared meals or dining at fast food restaurants. Like everything, all good in moderation, but too much can compromise nutrition and can lead to heath issues and ailments. We all know this is contributing to massive social problems like obesity and diabeties however, convenience is here to stay so it is important to educate ourselves on good food choices, get into good habits, set a good example and teach our children.
Foods are medicine and when used in the right quantities and combinations can treat a huge range of conditions - fatigue, depression, inflammation, immune system deficits, hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular support, thyroid conditions, body composition, ageing, stress to name a few. In most cases, these can be treated easily through tweaking lifestyle, changing food habits and perhaps adding a supplement.
As a mother to three small children and a lover of the good things in life, I do not judge or preach. I prefer to educate and inform about good food and lifestyle choices. In my ideal world everyone respects food, cares about nutrition and makes it a priority. I want to give you the right tools and confidence to easily prepare well-balanced meals sourced from nutritionally dense ingredients you and everyone else in your family are able and want to eat.
Will eating well help you live longer? Maybe not, but you will feel like you have.
