The Chatswood Bowling Club was founded in 1900 and is proud to present the game of Lawn Bowls in the centre of northern Sydney. We have a traditional flair without being stifled by tradition.
The club, a gem tucked between the North Shore rail line and the Pacific Highway, has a long and proud history. The dignified old club house, top class greens and gardens, kept immaculate by a dedicated greenkeeper stands as a reminder of a gentler more dignified era in sport.
Games are over 21 ends with usually a 3 hour plus duration. At the competition of each end, scores are counted with the team having the nearest bowls to the jack, scoring 1 point for
each bowls.
The club is a licensed non-smoking venue and there are no gaming machines or gambling options. Visitors from other clubs are welcome, ring us at 10am on game days to book. Thursday bowls are casual clothes/mufti day.
The venue has a range of rooms catering from small groups up to 100 attendees maximum. Layouts are flexible.
We have an eftpos payment system for Visa/Mastercard only but no ATM facility.
Membership costs $120 a year :
July to June - includes $60 Fed, State & Zone registration fees - but costs only $60 after November 1.
The best days for using the club for these type of events are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays which are non playing days for members, which guarantees exclusive use.
Advance booking for end of year events, particularly in the weeks leading to Christmas is advisable by August.
Lawns bowls is an inexpensive non-contact sport that caters for all ages offering excellent social interaction.
