Burton Family Maitland Toyota first opened in December 1963 trading as Sharton Motors. It was a Golden Fleece Petrol Station, with a small car yard and service workshop with a total staff of four. Norm and Maureen Burton were the principals in the business, and are still in that role today, some 40 years later.
In 1970 Norm and Maureen purchased 250 High St Maitland, which was refurbished as a new car showroom and a service workshop facility, operating with a staff or nine.
In 1977 Sharton Motors became incorporated, and started to trade as Maitland Toyota.
