Ritchie is a Psychologist and EMDR Therapist in Melbourne who has been working with people who present with various issues at different stages of their lives. Having experienced many personal challenges in his own life (including childhood grief, physical abuse, low self-esteem, social anxiety and depression), he has a keen sensitivity and understanding of the myriad of issues faced by clients. As a result of his experiences, he is passionate about helping others overcome their struggles, and find meaning and personal fulfillment in their lives. Ritchie values above all else, a personal heart-to-heart connection with every client he works with, to ensure that they feel understood and comfortable before engaging them in any treatment. Many of his clients who have been to a number of psychologists before coming to him notice the difference in treatment they get from him. Ritchie also strongly believes in helpful two-way sharing of information and will glad share his personal experiences with you if you happen to ask him about them. He does not subscribe to the do-as-I-say or I-know-better-than-you attitudes that some professionals may adopt, nor is he interested in labelling you with mental disorders! All he wants is what you want to get out of your visits. As an avid deep thinker (who loves engaging in reflection on life and existentialism in his spare time!), he weaves his own distinctly creative brand of insight into therapy to connect and relate to each and every person at their particular point of need. Ritchie incorporates various evidence-based treatments including EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Relaxation, Hypnosis and Ego State Therapy to ensure that clients obtain a carefully-tailored experience with the best possible outcomes. He is experienced at dealing with a range of mental health issues but has a particular interest in the treatment of PTSD, childhood trauma, abuse and long-standing chronic depression and anxiety.
