In her playroom, Donna provides an effective therapeutic approach for children and their families for a variety of children's difficulties including:
Self concept and self-esteem; adjusting to family changes such as separation; anxiety; sleeping & eating difficulties; social adjustment issues; school difficulties; social skills & making friends; anger management, fear, sadness, worry & shyness; aggression and acting out; bonding and attachment issues; foster, adoption and identity issues; trauma issues; grief and loss; abuse and neglect; chronic illness/hospitalisation; prenatal and birth trauma; ADD and ADHD.
Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is a very effective therapeutic/counselling approach designed to help a child experiencing emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. Play Therapy allows a child to explore their emotions, thoughts, wishes and needs with support from the trained Play Therapist. Play Therapy helps a child to understand muddled feelings and upsetting events that they have not had the chance or the skills to sort out properly.
Filial Therapy (Child-Parent Relationship Therapy) is a family based form of Non-Directive Child-Centred Play Therapy. Both modes of therapy utilise the child's natural activity of play. Whilst Child-Centred Play Therapy involves the therapist working directly with the child, Filial Therapy involves the therapist guiding a parent how to become an agent of therapeutic change for the child and themselves.
