The River Cattle Fund has developed an innovative approach to the Australian beef cattle industry we invest in cattle only, and partner with farmers who breed and/or grow the cattle and share profits with the Fund. This means we gain access to this market without needing to purchase land, which achieves the separation of heavy assets (low return, high capital land and fixtures) from light assets (higher return, market sensitive cattle stock.)
The Fund has been designed to attract industry respected farmers on prime land as partners in the enterprise, and to provide those landholders with clear performance incentives. The attraction for the farmer is that they can access capital without incurring the burden of further bank debt, allowing them to fully stock their properties without jeopardising the family assets. The anticipated scale of the operation will enable the Fund to implement best practices and continuous improvement programs across all participating properties, and achieve cost benefits through bulk purchasing programs.
