The carbon atom has four electrons in its outer, or valence, shell. Carbon, being the basis of diamonds, was decided as an appropriate name for a diamond lubricant company. Hence Carbon 4. The accompanying logo is a 2 dimensional cross section of a diamond/carbon lattice.
The origins of CFQ started in 1988 at gem stone processing factory in Preston Victoria, called Falcon’s Eye.
At that stage Falcon’s Eye was one of the biggest manufacturers of semi precious stone spheres in the world, exhibiting their wares around the world.
During the growth of the company, a lot of ground breaking diamond tooling was developed to cater for the multitude minerals that they processed.
One breakthrough was a lubricant that was developed for processing a particularly hard variety of stone, known as Cowell Jade (nephrite) after its origins in South Australia. This particular stone was so unforgiving of diamond tooling, that it became uneconomical to process. This challenge was eventually overcome by the first formulation that lead to CFQ.
Until in 2005 an opportunity arose to manufacture CFQ in a partnership with the Refrigerant Oil Company; utilizing their state of the art processing facilities.
After nearly 3 years of further R&D and several hundred formulations, Carbon4 is proud to release CFQ. A revolution for diamond tooling.
