Sandpiper Motel is Apollo Bay's newest motel. The property has been completely remodelled and now offers simple, stylish and contemporary accommodation suitable for both holiday makers and those that have business in the area. We are 100 metres from a safe swimming beach and 350 metres from the centre of town. Much of the external timber has been recycled from buildings and structures from around Australia. In fact the boardwalk uprights were taken from a wharf in Cairns, Queensland. The reception floor is made from Spotted Gum rescued from a shop in Geelong. We have installed rainwater tanks to harvest the rain that falls on the motel. We recycle the rain water in the laundry and in some of the motels toilets. This makes good business sense as it saves us money but it also makes us a more sustainable business. The motels gardens have been planted with native species whereever possible. They require less water and give the property a very Australian feel, whilst doing our bit to protect the environment. All the rooms have full amenities: * Separate bathroom with shower and toilet * Refrigerator * Toaster * Tea and Coffee making facilities * Reverse Cycle air-conditioning * Satellite TV * Hairdryer * Ironing Board and Iron The Family Apartment has basic cooking facilities and a DVD player. We have other DVD players for hire. If you don't have your own computer we have one available in the reception area for you to check your emails and keep in contact with friends and family. Since the opening of The Great Ocean Walk we've accommodated many guests who have enjoyed the beauty and splendour of this very special walking trail. We are able to arrange to have walkers dropped off at the start of their day and picked up and returned to the motel at the end. Read more
