Well worth the 20-minute drive from the CBD, this museum is popular with families in the Brisbane area. Most exhibitions are interactive and include diesel locomotives, an impressive model railway and the fantastic kid-sized nippers area, where children can run a railway system themselves. Special events occur throughout the year such as Steam Train Sundays (when the whole family can travel around Brisbane for an hour in vintage style) and The Great Train Robbery where you can follow clues and try to find the crook.
