Doctor Ivan Young is an Australian trained ophthalmologist specialising in small incision cataract surgery.
Inspired by Prof. Fred Hollows whilst working in Far North Queensland, Dr. Young went on to pursue specialist training at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital after performing research in Melbourne.
He has been a Civil Aviation Safety Authority Designated Aviation Ophthalmologist since 2001, providing advice and assessment for aviators. He is also a Clinical Lecturer University of New South Wales and a state branch committee member of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Doctor Young�s focus is on providing general ophthalmology specialist services and he has a special interest in oculoplastic surgery where he uses the Ellman Radio Surgical process. In his practice he also treats glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
For cataract treatment, Doctor Young uses the latest measuring equipment (Swept Source Optical Coherence Tomography) to achieve precise eye measurements. His practice uses latest technology to assess and improve eye health, achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients.
Doctor Young has a VMO appointment at Mayo Private Hospital, Taree and is able to provide services to both privately insured and public patients for the residents of the Lower to Upper North Coast regions.
Doctor Young loves living and working in this beautiful area of New South Wales, feeling he was originally destined to become a country general practitioner. Loving time at home with family, he particularly enjoys his wife�s home cooking! His other passions include the piano, a love that he shares as he teaches his son. Doctor Young also spends his time using his considerable talents in areas of hobby, which currently include the building of a private aircraft.
