I began my painting career in 1969 when I was fifteen years old. My father took me on as an
apprentice in Perth, Western Australia. At the end of my five apprenticeship term, I was one
of three apprentices nominated for an 'Apprentice of the Year' award. Within four years I was
in partnership with one of the other nominees but then moved to Queensland in 1984 to be
married and take up residency.
James W Decorating established its early form in 1986 in Algester, Brisbane upon a
foundation of experience and dedication to painting as a skill. Put simply, we paint, we
decorate, we improve.
Under the maxim, 'Not Just A Painter', I aimed to deliver a set of standards, not simply
consistent with, but reaching far beyond those expected of a professional painting company
committed to the highest quality.
I operate under the assumption that quality can neither be sacrificed, nor offered as a costly
extra. When we paint and when we conduct the business, we do so in active compliance with
the following: We respect a schedule by working punctually and efficiently; We provide a
complete written report detailing exactly the materials and products to be used; We
thoroughly prepare a surface before applying any paint; We take effective measures to
protect furnishing and personal belongings; Weuse a premium range of Dulux paint; We
reassure the peace of mind of our customers with full public liability insurance coverage; and,
We only request final payment upon completion.
For us, a job is only completed once the customer says so, by meeting their expectations and
standards. This, along with our awareness of and commitment to a community that
responded positively to our existence, is the key to our ongoing success.
