My name is Dean Whitling, I live in Brisbane Australia, and have been photographing professionally for over 12 years. I work primarily in the commercial and corporate space, creating both photos and video. That said, I take a mean family portrait too. All Is Light Photo & Video is our new business name, we traded as DWPhoto for nearly 10 years prior to that. Same great images, new awesome name.
As a freelance photographer, I shoot corporate portraits, architecture, products, events, marketing material, advertising and pretty much anything a business needs photographed. I get to build relationships with my clients that go well beyond a day of shooting. I love this part. It's good for business but it's even better for the simple fact of connecting with people and helping them tell their visual stories
My video work has grown a lot in recent years and rightfully so. There are few better ways to connect with your clients or fans than via video. It's also the number one growing form of content to build your website and brand awareness. I shoot instructional videos, YouTube promos, corporate interviews and simple advertisements. It's a wonderful way to both communicate and connect.
It's all about the light, and I'm not talking about photos or video. We need light to survive; we need it for warmth. We are made of the stuff. Of course, with no light there is no photograph either. There simply cannot be. The magic of photography is felt by us all because it is made of this marvellous stuff called light, from which we are also made. Whilst light forms the foundation, the true magic of photography resides in how it connects us as people. It's why we take millions of photos every day. It's the first thing we to save in a house fire. It paints a thousand words. It helps us remember and celebrate our lives. Photography and videos do all this and more and this is where the true magic lives, and why I love it so.
