My name is Cheryl Cantwell and I am a Family Day Care Educator registered under Great Western FDC. I live in Guildford and accept children in all areas of Sydney. I have been providing quality and educational care for 29 years. I have had the privilege of bringing up my beautiful daughter in Family Day Care and my happiest times were watching her and the children I cared for flourish under my care. My daughter and I still have ongoing relationships with children who I cared for that are now in University or starting families themselves. This is very rewarding. Below is an example of my daily routine but please keep in mind that we also do spontaneous activities also. This keeps it fun and exciting!
Monday- Craft * 2 and a work sheet. Playgroup. Outdoor play (always set up differently with an extensive array of equipment. Story time and singing/dancing. Lunch. Rest time. Afternoon Tea. (While they have been asleep I have set up a variety of free activities to allow children to express themselves).
Tuesday- Greystanes Library for story time.
Wednesday- Day off.
Thursday Excursion if weather permits (park/walk etc).
Friday As above on Monday.
The ages of children I look after are 0-5, 4 children.
5-12, 3 children.
My beliefs- I believe in free play but also encouraging the ability to follow direction, expectations and routine. I encourage independence from an early age. I love nature and animals. The children know how to compost/recycle/ look after the chickens ( I have four, free range) . They have also created a vegetable garden with me that the children water and weed daily.
I introduce craft from birth and implement the school readiness program from age 2. This includes: Letters/Numbers/Tracing/basic arithmetic, basic reading and a high focus on emotional and social readiness. Please make an appointment to view my residence any time.
