These DIY shingle roof supplies are being sent around Australia for new roofing projects and people replacing their home roof or outdoor gazebo. Wooden shakes, thatched roofs and old concrete tiles can all be replaced with relative ease.
To replace a roof we remove the existing roof material and clean and straighten the rafters. Marine grade plywood is then installed over the rafters providing the base for the roofing system. A metal drip edge is installed around the base and a roofing underlay is laid over the plywood. Finally the asphalt shingles are nailed down with GAL clout nails. The result is a roof system that will last for decades with no maintenance required.
