Fonthill is 20 minutes from the colonial town of Oatlands, in Tasmania’s midlands.Fonhtill homestead was built in the 1830’s, and has been restored to its former glory.When you stay at Fonthill Log Cabin, you don't have to rough it. Hobart is an hour south, and Launceston just over an hour north. The nearest golf course is 20 minutes away.Closer to home, you'll find yourself right in the heart of the Midlands, world famous for its saxon merino flocks and superfine wool. You can take a close look at the way we run things on our 6500 acre sheep property - particularly interesting during shearing and lambing, but there's always something going on. 290 hectares have been reserved in its natural state for future generations to appreciate bushwalking, observing the wildlife - maybe a Tasmanian tiger - but definitely a Tasmanian devil, wedge-tailed eagles, quolls, forester kangaroos. In the evening relax in front of the cosy log fire with a good book, or just reflect on the lives and times of our pioneers.
