Owned and operated Murphy's Contracting from 1996 to 2003. I was one of the largest tree company's in Victoria, covering the bottom end of the state, looking after power lines, Vic roads, local councils, schools, parks, etc. and all emergency call outs. In 2003 I sold shares in the company and kept my share until 2012. When I sold my remaining shares we had 50 full-time employees.
I shifted to Queensland in 2002 and started BCS Tree Services servicing the Sunshine Coast. In 2006 I was contracted to assist in the clean up at Inassvale after cyclone Larry hit. I was able to have 15 men on site for a period of 3 months. Works included cyclone clean ups, shire work, insurance and other tree companies. I managed the clean up of the world heritage in Cairns after the cyclone hit, which has been locked up since captain cook arrived.
I have contracted my works to most storms since. Another big one was Cyclone Yassie. We got the call from the council before it hit and were driving at it as it was coming in. Again we were there for 3 months and I was mainly working on the Botanical gardens trying to save what trees we could. My other crews were on parks, schools, and insurance works.
Black Saturday bush fires in Victoria, I had crews there for 12 months including power line work and Vic roads up in the high country.
I've done a lot of contract work for the Queensland National Parks and helped clean up the Gap in Brisbane after the storm, recently in Hunter Valley for 3 months on all the damage.
Well known for our storm work, with all my contacts I can have dozens of crew and equipment on the ground within 24 hours. We offer a 24-hour call out on any storm and insurance work and have been trusted by councils up north, major insurance companies, and Queensland national parks.
