Layananda is a swami of the Dashnami order of Sannyasa, the Rishi Tradition, Bihar School of Yoga, India. Trained as a yoga teacher, meditation teacher and yoga therapist under the guidance of Paramahansa Satyananda Saraswati a Modern Master of Yoga, Tantra, Vedanta and the yogic arts, Layananda spent 15 years living in an asharam environment practicing and studying these techniques in order to share with all of humanity.
After 15 years of ashramic life, Layananda returned to the modern world to teach and share her knowledge. In 2002 she was initiated into Tantric Tibetan Buddhism that deepened her practice and enhanced her knowledge of the mind/body complex. She further studied counselling that opened up more avenues and began to work on Yoga Teacher Trainings, as a Senior Teacher, Lecturer, counsellor as well as co-ordinating the Level I & II trainings, consisting of 38 students from al over the world, for 6 years in Australia and Bali.
She now lives in Victoria on the Mornington Peninsula where she is currently teaching yoga and meditation, yoga therapy and counselling to those that are suffering from the many dis-eases of modern life. She conducts classes and courses for both beginners and more advanced practitioners.
The components of her Classes and Courses include Hatha yoga - asanas - yogic postures, pranayama - breathing techniques, Mudra - gestures or attitudes that tell the mind to go in, Bandhas - locks that release tensions from the body, Yoga Nidra - deep sleep relaxation practice, Dharana and Dhyana - meditation and mindfulness techniques, Kirtan and chant - music for the soul, Yogic philosophy- knowledge of the yogic arts. She maintains dedicated, focused, informative and well being tools to cope with the stresses of life.
In 2017 she will begin to conduct workshops and retreats on the peninsula and throughout Victoria. These are powerful tools for change.
