20,000 Cows

I recently ate at 20 000 Cows, after 20 years of living in South London. Not only was it great to find the quality of food to be great and authentic, it was as I remembered it many years before, and better than lots I'd tried in the UK. Lovely to know that good things don't change and that there's still somewhere we can buy delicious Indian and Middle Eastern vegan food. Relaxing atmosphere too. Thank you Murray and staff. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys eating quality, fresh food.

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I've eaten here a few times before, and always enjoyed the restaurants uniqueness, food and core message (love). However, last night my party of 9 was rudely awakened to the attitude of the wait staff! My partner unknowingly brought a non-vegan (but vegetarian) birthday cake for me (obviously this was my birthday party). The waitstaff knew it was not vegan when we were seated because staff asked if we would like to put it in the fridge, and when my partner replied that we would, staff asked if it was vegan, and then refused to put it in the fridge when staff found out it wasn't - which I can understand.... it was an innocent mistake that my partner had not realized that the restaurant is vegan as opposed to vegetarian (easy mistake to make considering the sign reads "vegetarian house") ...read more

I've been eating here for many years and the food is consistently very good. Murray has a great feel for vegan food and the experience never disappoints.Lots of choices including Indian and Middle eastern styles and everything is fresh and organic produce. You go to 20,000 Cows for the great food not because you want a silver service dining/service experience. I love it's friendly staff, mismatched chairs, glasses, cutlery etc... It's an authentic and genuine eating experience and I always feel at home here.
