Due to high levels of internal carbon dioxide the stomata on the underside of the leaves close, not needing to expel water to collect atmospheric carbon dioxide which reduces a plants need for transpiration, while maintaining maximum growth.
A bonus, as CO2 levels elevate a plant can use more of the available lumens (the sun provides around roughly 5000lumens). The problem is though, with only 400ppm atmospheric carbon dioxide, plants can only absorb 1000lumens with 4000lumens going towards heating up and burning the plant.
