Here I am again, one year later writing not such a great review. Al Dente has recently changed management, and with it, it has changed quality (unfortunately not for the better). I'm yet to eat in with the new management but did get some take away pizzas a few weeks ago which might as well have been from pizza hut. The bases were chewy and not what you'd expect for a wood fired pizza. What once was a buzzing hub in the centenary suburbs, is now a substandard restaurant that closed before 9 last Friday - so sad!
What a fantastic restaurant! The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to ensure all customers have a great night, a big shout out to Penny who is very personable and provides great Italian hospitality. Being Italian I'm very fussy when it comes to eating pizza and pasta - I'm used to it tasting like Nonna's! Al Dente doesn't match Nonna's ... it beats it! Be warned this place is very popular and you'll need to book in advance. It's a shame the restaurant isn't bigger - it can get quite loud at times.
We have been to Al Dente three times now and are still stunned how such a place exists in the suburbs. From the professional, friendly and efficient staff to the modern, classy decor, to the delicious food... very rare to get such quality outside metro or city outskirts!
