Steve was a one-stop shop for our renovation in Far North Queensland , providing an initial site inspection, preparing concept designs, preparing engineered drawings and necessary all compliances. We had a commercial building that had not had a final council & engineering inspection even though it was more than 15 years old. We had a building inspector check it out and he gave us a substantial list of work to be done, from strengthening the roof to updating the air conditioning systems, plumbing changes etc. We employed Beachtech Design (Steve Athey) to do the design work and supervision of the many contractors involved. He did an excellent job under a fairly tight deadline and consistently found the cheapest ways of getting the the jobs done. As the building is in Mackay this involved quite a bit of travel for Steve, taking him away from his normal day to day work.



We found Steve to be very professional, personable and down to earth. We highly recommend his services and would use him again without hesitation.

Coming from Tassie and trying to understand the unique North Queensland climate was a huge learning curve for us. We engaged the services of Steve Athey from Beachtech Designs to help us design our holiday house at Hydeaway Bay.

We debated between the two of us the house we would build for ages. We heard from locals that Steve Athey was the designer for us - and he never failed to help out while we were discussing "the plan" - visiting the site and patiently listening. When we finally asked him to design the house we presented him with a few pages of dreams and no floor plan.As the house nears completion - it is exactly what we wanted - except we could never have designed it. From a practical point of view - we're owner builders - and Steve's drawings were easy to follow - and when we had to make minor changes as we built - Steve was happy to help with revisions and regulatory requirements.

We were fortunate to come across Beachtech Designs (Steve Athey) when looking to build our new house in Buderim, Sunshine Coast after admiring another of his designs in Airlie Beach. We were impressed by Steves thorough professionalism during the course of the project nothing was ever too much trouble and, considering the distance, the prompt attention to our numerous requests made the whole process easy and enjoyable. His understanding of our block and our family needs was exceptional and delivered a one-off design that more than lived up to all our expectations. Steves knowledge and experience also meant a smooth passage through the Council approval process. Altogether an excellent service throughout and great value for money. We are still getting many unsolicited admiring remarks from passers by and are delighted with the outcome.
