Birkenhead Tavern

When I first discovered this place I thought that the location, being on the north side of the Port River overlooking Port Adelaide, was pretty cool. That is until I came here. Okay, I am one that likes river views, however this is Port Adelaide, so the review really isn't all that spectacular. Maybe when the gentrification and development of the area changes the aesthetics this pub may discover that it has a million dollar view, but not at this time. Okay, the pub itself isn't bad (expect for a couple of rude staff), but since it is a bit out of the way it is not some place that I would visit all that often. While it has a pretty classy restaurant facing the river, there does happen to be a carpark, and some undeveloped land, between it and the waters edge. In fact it is a shame that it isn't closer to the river – that would have made it a much better pub, but then again it probably is an old sailors pub. Maybe it will change when the view becomes better.

Location is great, especially when the tide is high, well worth a look. I have heaps of friends who go there regularly for meals, me... I don't see what the fuss is all about, the food is ok, but my friends think it's great...
