Lunchtime would be my choice of dining time heree - you still get the same nice service, glasses and cutlery are shiny and clean but you don't get the big crowds of a nighttime - and their lunchtime prices are very good. Food is the same quality but you don't have to wait and wait for it!
Caf Michael 2 may be banking on their reputation a little too much. It has been several years since my last visit and I was looking forward to it based on my previous experience. I booked online using Dimmi for a large group - no problems. We arrived and our table was ready. Good. However, the night went downhill from there. The service was friendly but lacking. We had people with gluten intolerances on the table and it required numerous discussion between us and the waitstaff and the waitstaff and the chef to ensure that all dishes were gluten free as we'd opted for a banquet. The food was not as good as I remembered it - pretty average considering Caf Michael 2's reputation.
I went to Michael 2 last night for dinner with 8 other people. The meals arrived over a lengthy period not together after waiting for at least 30 minutes from the first meal being served and all having finished their meals my meals still not arrived as I don't like eating alone I told them not to bother with my meal. I had tickets to a fringe show which started at 9pm we arrived for our meal at 7pm having made a booking so it was no surprise that a large table was expected. The staff seemed very inexperienced and flustered. Not impressed. Would not go back. Apparently the meals that we were served were good but no one will go back because they did not enjoy the experience.
Ingrid, We appreciate all feedback as we can work towards improving CM2 always. Thank you for informing us with such detail- we will try our best to iron out such issues & prevent them from happening in the future. We deal with large groups on a regular basis & sailed through the fringe period without any drama, and unusually large groups. We would like to invite yourself & ur group to return. A complimentary bottle of wine on arrival & a 10% discount on all food will be offered. Thank you again & our sincere apologies for any unfortunate service that was encounted. @ CafeMichael2. People Manager.
Easily the best Thai restaurant in Adelaide, best I've ever had anywhere. All the chefs are Thai, using authentic ingredients, and the resultant spicy, delicate, complex, flavors and aromas are pretty amazing. Other Thai restaurants will serve hot food, or sour food, but not hot, creamy, and sour food all in one fantastic dish. You savor each meal at Cafe Micheal, it's an experience. Not the cheapest place I've ever been to, but in this case you certainly get what you pay for. Unless you've actually been to Thailand, I'd suggest you probably haven't had Thai food this good before. As someone else suggested, the red curry is very, very good (ask for Penang beef), and my personal favourite, Tom Kha Gai (think chicken Tom Yum with coconut milk) is perfect on a wintry Adelaide day.
