Caffe Di Lido

Mediterranean seaside ambiance

A gorgeous little kiosk tucked away in the Port Melbourne Life Saving Club that offers Italian inspired snacks, light meals and really good coffee. Owners Teresa and Dianne have created a little piece of Portofino in a 'one of a kind' setting.

This is a traditional beach kiosk with a difference- they serve fabulous Italian food! You can easily miss this place if you are driving past. It's a perfect spot on a sunny day with great views of the sea and lovely music playing. No doof-doof here! So nice to be served with a warm friendly smile.

If you would like to have your coffee with Pavarotti - this is the place. It has been transformed from a run-down beach kiosk into a little piece of Italy all the way from the opera music, the traditional Italian food, the dcor and the coffee. The menu changes on a regular basis and includes panini, pasta and calamari dishes. It also has the usual ice creams and soft drinks. It is a great place to drop in while you are out walking your dog, exercising with friends or going to the Port Melbourne beach on which it is located.

The strains of an aria seduce you as you stroll by on your morning beachside walk. A quick double-take and you realise that what used to be a bog-standard, daggy little beachside kiosk at the base of the Port Melbourne Lifesaving Club has been turned into something very different - and delightful. The menu, for one thing - it offers a few beachside standards, but is elevated to cafe status with an ever-changing sampling of homemade, old family recipe Italian delights. The hospitality - for new owners Teresa and Dianne, everyone who wanders by or drops in for a coffee (good coffee!) or snack is family. The quirkiness - on Australia Day, it was a full-on party, with Tony Pantana live and crooning to the crowd, and a conga line snaking around the tables. It's such a treat to find the ordinary turned into something special, and that's just what's happened beachside in Port Melbourne.
