Capitol Square Hotel Sydney (managed by Rydges)
The Capitol Square Hotel enjoys three frontages being Campbell Street to the north, George Street to the West, and Hay Street to the South. Located immediately, to the east is the Capitol Theatre, while Pitt Street and well known Belmore Park are both located approximately 150 metres to the east. The surrounding development within the immediate area is a blend of the entertainment district of Sydney being at the southern extremities of George Street which also includes the well known restaurant district known as Chinatown. Also in close proximity is the University of Technology and the Sydney TAFE College, while in easy walking distance is the World Square Monorail station while 250 metres to the South are the entrances to Central Railway station.
Okay, this place wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't all that great here. The staff were pretty cool, but I didn't think all that much of the security staff who seemed to only speak in mono-syllabic words. I passed through here on a Saturday night, and while they weren't too bad about letting people in, they weren't the most helpful either. What I did like was the live music that they had playing away, as well as the cellars where the toilets were located. In fact it was the cellars that were the best part of this pub because it looked like they dated back to the 19th century, which in my opinion always adds a lot of character to a place. Oh, and the live music was okay as well, even though it just happened to be a guy with a guitar (but then again a guy with a guitar can still be pretty good).
Close to everything and great prices, the reception area seem old and unapealing but the rooms have been fixed up and roomy. The bathroom might need a new make over but it was a good and cheap stay!
Close to Chinatown and right on the main street for everything (George st), also its close to THAITOWN so if you are in love with Thai food this place is your place to be.
Close by is a Japanese restaurant which serves Japanese BBQ so you will smell beautiful meats cooking.
The worst disgusting Hotel this has become. Filthy stained carpet, dirty bedcovers, dust and dirt everywhere filthy windows. $169 wasted. Poor service un interested staff. Car park did not open unitl 8.15 am so much for an early start! will never stay there again
