I absolutley loved my stay at Cooinda Lodge Kakadu. Its a great proximity to highlights of the area. The Yellow Waters Cruise is a must do while you're there. The on site restaurant had a pub like feel and we enjoyed a great meal and beer after a long day of seeing sights, walking and swimming.
In a nutshell, this is a great spot for its proximity to the Yellow Waters and the lodge has a nice pool. When we arrived our air conditioner did not work so we rang reception only to discover the phone was also not working. I rang reception from my mobile and they offered to move us. We were happy about this as the room was pretty awful for the price. The second room was more or less the same as the first but looked a bit better. Later on we discovered our shower had some major issues- at first it blew out what seemed like a tonne of dust and rust in the pipes and then the hot water stopped completely. Another call to reception and we were moved again. That evening our room ran out of water competely! In the end we stayed only one night and booked other accomodation. I realise that remote locations are in a different category when it comes to accomdation and it's all part of the adventure but at these prices I think it's fair to expect better and the location is perfect.
the yellow river cruise run by this company is an expensive but excellent cruise of the Kakadu alligator river wetlands. cruise goes for about 2 and a half hours with plenty of bird life to see and knowledgeable guides. the only negative is the prices, especially for young children. includes a breakfast smorgesboard at the lodge at end of cruise and short bus ride down top jetty in price. highly recommend
