" More than a takeaway Deli"
Located across the road from the Crafers Hotel, with a generous serving area, and a tidy relaxing dining area, with a good range of food options, makes the Crafers Gourmet Deli very popular with the locals and cyclists that frequently bike the Hills. Open for breakfast and lunch with an excellent range of freshly prepared options, eg, cheese, tomatoes and olives focaccia with their own pesto, and chicken tandoori wrap, rich and tasty, is only one of many food options. As I sat and enjoyed a relaxing lunch in the dining area, with a latte, (Mahalia boutique coffee roaster, winner of a number of awards, from Robe SA.) I found the service was good, the dining area relaxing and comfortable, with a de stress ambience, which completed my lunch experience.
Crafers Gourmet Deli is located in the shopping strip next door to the post office with good off street parking. Al fresco dining on the front verandah, compliments a variety of seating options inside, including comfortable lounge sofas. The new owners have big plans for a complete refurbishment, to a Melbourne Sydney style modern upmarket deli. The deli aspect of the business specializes in Adelaide Hills specialty produce exclusive to this outlet. All dips, chutneys, relishes and jams are freshly prepared on the premises and all available to sample. A fabulous range of chocolates, toffees, panforte etc are also on the tasting table. The chiller cabinets at the rear stock a range of tempting gourmet meal packs, covering a variety cuisines, all made on the premises, to take away . Open for breakfast and lunch with an excellent range of freshly prepared options, like ham, cheese, tomatoes and olives focaccia with their own pesto, and chicken tandoori wrap, rich ...read more
I have read the other reviews and would definitely concur. I cycle into the hills every Sunday with friends, two other 50 yo gentleman (ha ha), We started coming to the cafe before Darren and Vicky took over as managers. They are always very friendly. The place is very very clean, very well run, they are friendly, generous, have a few laughs and I always look forward to this part of the ride, it is truly the reward after hard work, then the rest of the ride is definitely all down hill after that. The food is great, so is the coffee. They have really become friends over this time. I see more and more riders when we arrive these days, perhaps people are catching on.
Every Saturday and Sunday morning at 7.30am we ride up through the hills and grab a dine in Coffee and a few jokes from Darren and Vicky around the heater.Darren and Vicky are always very friendly and really do offer great service. So all you Bike riders out there put in the hard yard's and get up to the BEST COFFEE cafe in the hills and enjoy the experience....Keep up the Great work we love it....
Every Sunday we descend on the Crafers Deli having ridden our bikes up via Norton Summit. Darren greets us with a joke and a "hows your week been" while making us the best coffee in Adelaide. Vicky is always experimenting with different hot meals and we are willing guinea pigs, having been very happy with all of her dishes. Initially I was a bit unsure of the pie floater but it was delicious.
We never miss a week and have come to know Darren and Vicky as firends and appreciate them for the warm and genuine people that they are. Hundreds of fellow bike riders cant be wrong.
