This is a pub that I am quite familiar with, having stopped off here for a drink when I was doing a couple of classes at bible college (namely because it was just around the corner). Years ago it used to be your typical corner pub where only the regulars would visit, however it has since had a huge face lift and now has an awesome beer garden and a restaurant (as well as a sports bar and pokies). These days it is more like an inner city pub where you can go for a decent meal, or simply sit out in the beer garden, that opens out from the bar, on a Saturday afternoon. There are also a number of big screens where you can also watch your sporting events. Okay, it probably isn't the cheapest place for a meal, but at least they have a good selection of beers on tap.
Went to the Cremorne for the first time and opted to sit in the restaurant as we had an oversees guest and wanted to be able to hear him speak. Four of us in total - two ordered schnitzel, one ordered half a chicken and one ordered a medium steak. The first three meals were fine....the medium steak was blue not medium and was sent back...it was returned quickly minus the 1/4 piece which was cut off to assess how it was cooked (the juice on the plate was a give away it was not medium) - now it was rare at best - given the rest of us were eating only the edges of the steak were eaten. When the plates were collected and 70% of the steak remained no question was asked if "all was ok". The bill arrived and we were asked how the meals were...I advised the steak was still very rare and was abruptly told that I should have sent it back again (for a second time) and had it cooked further....I could not believe the response...surely a chef (or a cook at best given the inability ...read more
Great place to go on a Friday night after work. Lots of television screens everywhere which is great if you want to catch a game of football with your mates. It was surprisingly busy, probably because of the great weather last night. There is an open area / beer garden near the main bar so there was a lot of smokers who congregated near the entrance between the beer garden and main bar. It was hard to get served at the main bar because it was so busy but I found that the bar just behind where the Kino gaming area was, was not so busy, so it was much easier to get served there. Plenty of good looking locals and people who had just finished work for the week. Although there was no dance floor that I could see so people had to create their own little dance spaces near the beer garden.
This was my first visit and I was impressed with the decor and in particular, the spacing between the tables - a rarity these days. The service was disjointed - we were asked by several different people if we wanted to order drinks and the same thing happened with our food order. The food was a bit hit and miss. Some were greasy, some were cooked unevenly. A great place for a drink I think.
