We had a terrible experience here. On Friday night, we came in to order 22 nuggets, got our number tag and unfortunately forgot to return to pick up our order. Fast forward to Sunday when we stepped in to Debbas to let them know what had happened and why I was still in possession of their tag. Girl behind counter asks if we'd like the 22 nuggets, I said yes that would be lovely, she punches it in, hands us the same tag again and decided to offer it to us for free even though I clearly stated it was us who forgot them on Friday. Lovely gesture either way. Owner proceeds over to us and starts questioning why we thought we should not be charged again for nuggets that were already cooked. I advised him his staff member had decided that, not I. He goes behind the counter to make fun of "our expectations" to the 15 year old staff right in front of us! He had to shoosh their laughter as he realised we could hear them. I handed him the extra $10 numerous times to avoid ...read more
I'll admit that Debbas Fish and Chips isn't in my Top 50 but I will say that if you take it for what it is (a local Fish and Chips) then you won't be disappointed, If you somehow want more then just that then may I suggest YellowTail Fish and Chips in Diamond Creek, I've known the Owner for a while and he's Variety is Devine , if your looking for the best Fish and Chips in Melbourne then may I suggest Kiwi Fish and Chips in East Melbourne, you cant go wrong
First of all I want to say I am not big on bagging local businesses but after what I have just been through I cannot keep this to myself. We have had Debba's in the past and have found it average, my hubby more so than myself doesn't like it so we usually make the trip to Whittlesea (where they have a great fish and chip shop) however on Sunday I was on my own and felt like some fish so just ran up to Debba's.. I will not be going back, we used to consider it average and way way overpriced, now it is overpriced and completely inedible. Its a good thing some competition is about to open up in Mernda Villages as I think they need it. Oh and when you phone through an order on a Friday night and they tell you 10-15 mins, be prepared for a 25-30 min wait always, they have a small army of staff back there and yet they can never seem to be correct with the wait time. Do yourself a favour, make the trip to Whittlesea or wait for the Fish shop in Mernda to open.
