Figsellers Cafe is centrally located, the building is large and spacious, painted in trendy fashionable colours. there are plenty of tables, with a very comfortable lounge area overlooking the footpath tables, chairs and umbrellas. At the rear is a purpose built covered courtyard, tree lined with a fountain, there are inbuilt bench seats with tables, and individual tables & chairs, this area heated when cold. Altogether creating a very pleasant and relaxing ambience inside and out. The busy kitchen is open plan and well organized. The menu includes a wide selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes. We chose an all day brekky, "not so big" still a very generous serve, of bacon, eggs sausages, hash-browns, grilled tomato, mushrooms and toast. (the Big Brekky must be huge) very well prepared and presented; From the lunch menu, a toasted wrap, with smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese and cranbury mayo, served with a fresh colourful salad, delicious. ...read more
BRILLIANT! wonderful and friendly service. Staff even go to that extra mile to assist with giving directions to tourists (and even printing out a map for us!). A warm environment with music to suit the mood of cafe dining. It's no Melbourne 5 star restaurant, but it sure is a Warrnambool 5 star cafe. The food is filled with exciting flavours and the eggs benedict definitely receives the two thumbs ups for the best hollandaise sauce I have yet tasted. The 'Figgies Hash Stack' is one I highly recommend - be prepared for a treat. As a non local, I visited this cafe twice a day for the duration of my stay. Best coffee in town and a lovely lad who may have been the manager, up for a friendly chat about my holiday. A highly recommended place to have a dine in experience. We will be back!
As the management told me this morning "Nobody is perfect" That was their defence when I refused to pay for a coffee I ordered when I arrived (about 90 minutes earlier) and after chasing it up with 3 different staff, decided not to bother with - and told them to cancel. Lets be honest - breakfast isnt complex food to make, it certainly shouldnt cost $20 a plate for undercooked eggs, burned sausages and runny hollandaise sauce. If you work in hospitality organising things so a table of 8 receives their meals within 20 minutes of each other shouldnt be too tricky. Finally, the staff at the register... actually didnt apologise to me, or anyone else at my table. After we spent nearly $200 with your business, they spent 10 minutes lecturing me about how it was my responsibility to pay for a coffee that never arrived. Fortunately, I wont have to deal with you again, and neither I suspect will the friends we dined with who are new to Warrnambool.
I visited Figsellers Cafe twice, the first time my family and I waited 25 minutes to be served, our orders were wrong and the bill was wrong! Feeling I should try again, the first visit may have just been unlucky, I went with my partner for brunch, at first we were rudely told that we could not sit at a certain table (which was not occupied for at least 30 mins after we were seated and had no reserved sign!), then my partner was served with onions in his meal which he is allergic to and requested the meal without onions, and were charged for things that weren't our and had to return for a refund once realising we had been overcharged after leaving the cafe, and waited a further 10 mins for a rude senior staff member to refund the amount without apology!
We will definitely not be returning!
